Our Adventist Health St. Helena (AHSH) family is grieving the immense loss of beloved nurse Gavin Richard, who passed away on October 10. We all knew Gavin as a kind, genuine and compassionate person–and an exceptional nurse.

You can honor his life by donating to Gavin’s Legacy, a fund benefiting Gavin’s wife and unborn daughter. Your gift will go directly to Gavin’s family to support them during this challenging time.

About Gavin Richard, RN

Gavin joined the AHSH family after completing nursing school, working alongside us for more than four years. After spending time in outpatient surgery and endoscopy, he worked in the ICU to pursue his dream of becoming a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA).

Gavin was known for being “the best”—he had the best attitude, work ethic and sense of humor. He delivered care with compassion and a smile. His patients loved him; Gavin won the patient experience award every quarter and was frequently featured in recognition ceremonies.

However, Gavin was more than a nurse—he was “the best” son, brother and uncle. And he was also the loving husband to his wife Mia, who he met in preschool and married four years ago. He was thrilled to be welcoming their baby girl in January 2022.

The world has lost an amazing human being. And although our hearts are broken, our memories of Gavin continue to make us smile.
